Camping Trip in Denali

Here are a few pics from our recent camping trip to Denali. We also went to the National Park which I was so excited to go to until we got there. I thought it paled in comparison to Yellowstone National Park. Of the 6 million acres that makes up the park you are only allowed to drive 15 miles in. Your odds of seeing wild animals are slim unless you want to sit for hours upon hours and have a good set of binoculars.

Exit Glacier

After a long day in Seward before heading home we stopped off to see the Exit Glacier. After a little hike which I was NOT dressed for. My poor, cute, little loafers were not enjoying hiking up the mountain! Thankfully after I cleaned them up they weren't damaged. I did not look like I should be hiking. I think everyone assumed I was a tourist for sure. It was freezing by the glacier and the wind would take your breath away.

We went out riding around on Mother's Day. It was sunshine and beautiful in Anchorage but as soon as we left it was rainy and cold. All and all it was still a nice day.

SNOW IN APRIL

Well yesterday we had a cold front from Russia come in and did it bring snow. We got about a foot or more of snow! We spent the morning digging out the driveway. So much for all the other chores we had planned for the day like getting more of the house unpacked and organized! We went from 58 degrees and beautiful sunshine to this! Glad I am a procrastinator and still have my studded tires on the car!

We had a short visit with Madison :( !! Can't wait for her to come for the summer. The only sad thing is that Julia & Tyler will be gone while she is here. We are planning to do all the fun things that are seasonal and things we couldn't squeeze into this past week. Rod took Madie back this weekend and I will be picking him up at 2 a.m. after a very long trip! Hope he won't be too grumpy!!!

Sorry it has taken me several months to update this thing!! Lots has been happening around here with our family. Rod moved in about a month ago. After he was here for 2 wks I had to go to TX for a week of training. On my way back I took a detour to RI and picked up Madison for her spring break. Here are some photos I took of the kids playing around after a day of trying to get my stuff and Rod's stuff organized in this house so I don't go nuts with all the clutter we have at the moment!

Not ready for Christmas!!

I don't know about anyone else but I am so not ready for Christmas! I cannot believe it is almost here and I haven't even started shopping for anyone yet. Sorry I don't have new pics to post -- I have been lazy lately. Can you believe that we have no snow in Anchorage?? Remember an earlier post all the snow we got... well it is GONE!! This is not the same Anchorage as last year. The weather is warmer (still cold think as low as 9 degrees and warm as the 30's) and it isn't white outside. I am actually sad. I mean I can't believe I put my studded tires on only to have to wear them down on the road that isn't covered in snow and ice. I do not want to have them restudded early because Mother Nature decided to warm up around here. Haven't been able to take the kids tubing or sledding. Julia is dying to build a snowman. It was supposed to snow Friday but nothing so far. Just waiting until I wake up one morning to a winter wonderland. It would feel warmer outside if we had some snow on the ground and it would actually be lighter outside. Think the darkness is getting to me some this year hence the mood I am in tonight.

Allison Got Married!

Friday, November 30, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. Rod & I got married!! It was a small intimate affair that took place in our home with Tyler, Julia and a few of my friends from work. It would have been perfect if Madison had been here. My husband is on his way back to VA :(..... Hopefully the military won't keep us apart for too terribly long. We have already spent over a year apart.

Snowing in Alaska

Well the snow finally arrived yesterday and it is snowing again this morning. All of Anchorage was wondering when we would finally start getting some this year as it is very late getting here this winter. By Halloween of last year we had over a foot of snow & by this time last year we were seeing negative 17 degrees.While I have been happy about our warmer winter most folks around here are ready to ski & snowboard. I have made a promise to take the kids and try snowboarding this year. So for all who know me well -- pray I don't kill myself or break anything!!!

Braces

Well the kids got their braces on Thursday. I took a couple of pics but both were not really wanting to get their picture taken. So far Julia is not having any soreness.....why couldn't I have gotten those braces!!! Tyler is another story. He also has the palatal expander on the roof of his mouth to make his jaw bigger. I have to turn a key in it every morning and night. It is very painful and he cries which makes it very hard to do. No one wants to cause their child pain. So his whole face pretty much hurts. He also can't say some words clearly but that is the cute part. Hopefully it will get better!

The kids and the kittens! Ella is Tyler's favorite and the feeling is mutual. She was my kitten that I have raised since she was 3 wks old. She gave me someone to take care of over the summer. However she ditched me for Tyler quickly once the kids came home after their summer visit in WA. We got Eddie around Julia's birthday so she thinks he belongs to her. He was pretty young too. At 5 wks his mother stopped feeding him and his siblings. He was the runt of the litter but is really starting to grow these days. Julia loves Eddie to death and he is the sweetest little thing because he lets her carry him around with no complaints. I know he lives for when she goes to school and goes to sleep at night so he can get some peace. Ella doesn't like being held but loves to give kisses especially to Ty.

Tyler and Julia

The kids and I had fun trick or treating. The weather this year was definitely warmer than last year's Halloween. There was no snow on the ground this time around. They got way too much candy, didn't listen to anything the orthodontist said about not eating gummy, sticky, or chewy candy and both lost a spacer. Both are getting partial braces next week. To cover the cost I will be selling one of my kidneys on the black market-Just Kidding! Hope you enjoy the pics of the kids.
